Make Up Revolution Baked Highlighters - December 2015

Monday, December 21, 2015

Hey everyone. Thanks for joining me for a little review of the Make Up Revolution Baked Highlighters. I actually got these in my beauty advent calender so mine are the deluxe sizes - these beauty advent calenders are really great for trying a variety of products, I've already made some great discoveries and we've still got a few days to go!

Clockwise from top: Golder Lights, Pink Lights, Hidden Lights

The shades I have are Golden Lights, Pink Lights and Hidden Lights; unfortunately, I can't find Hidden Lights anywhere to purchase so this may be limited edition. I sincerely hope they do release this as a full size product though as I think the formulation of this one in particular is fantastic. It's a true gold highlight and it is so smooth and buttery, it almost feels like a cream highlight. This is also the least glittery of the three which I personally prefer - it gives a lovely sheen without being too sparkly.

Golden Lights is a bit of blogger favourite and is more of a pale champagne gold - very glittery but because the colour is so light it doesn't come off too 1980s. I actually found this to be the least pigmented of the selection; the colour is very similar to MUA Iridescent Gold which has a much smoother formula (you can see my review of this here.) I think if you're looking for a shade like this it's probably because you're looking for a budget version of Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop and in my opinion, the MUA version is closer to the mark.

Pink Lights surprised me - I wouldn't usually pick a pink highlight shade as I have a lot of redness in my skin anyway which I try not to accentuate. However, this almost has a purple/berry undertone which I think makes it a lot more wearable and a much more unique shade.

There's something for everyone here and there's even more shades available on the MUR website. I am so sad Hidden Lights isn't available as a full size product yet - fingers crossed they bring this out as this one has the best formula by far. For £3, you can't really go wrong with the other shades but I do think Pink Lights has the edge for being such a unique shade.

Are there any other drugstore highlights I should try out?
