Sleek MakeUp Enchanted Forest Palette Review - December 2015

Monday, December 14, 2015

Welcome back. If you've been with me for a while you'll know I have a mild to moderate eye shadow palette addiction. Today I'll be looking at another one from Sleek - their Enchanted Forest palette. I've been reaching for this repeatedly since I got my hands on it and here's why...

As usual this is a 12 shade palette with a good sized mirror and sleek (ho ho) packaging. The colour selection of this palette is so unique and so vibrant - we have purples, greens, blues, pink and gold, all in one place. We also have 5 matte shades and 7 shimmer shades - none of these are super glittery, more of a metallic, satin finish which I think naturally lends itself to a smoother formula.

The shade names are utterly adorable and all appear to be references to Disney's Cinderella (Drizella, Glass Slipper, Pumpkin etc..) - I can't match up Perla or Beatrice to any fairytales so PLEASE tell me if you know because it is driving me mad.

Sleek palettes can be quite hit and miss pigmentation wise but this I think is the best and most even pigmentation. The Fairy Godmother and Pumpkin shades are a little lacking but the more vibrant colours, both shimmer and matte, have great colour pay-off.

I think every palette needs a good highlight and a good liner colour to make it workable for every occasion and Glass Slipper is definitely the best highlight shade I've had in a Sleek palette. It's a pinkish light cream and works well as a brow bone highlight for my skin tone. We also have Lady Tremaine which is a matte dark brown - definitely dark enough to use for a soft winged liner or to smoke out the lower lash line; I know a lot of people would prefer a matte black but I actually really like having something a little different to work with.

I also need to mention the family of colours which just scream "mermaid" to me (if you haven't seen LeighAnnSays' Everyday Casual Mermaid tutorial, you need to and these shadows could definitely re-create her look). Perla has a gorgeous iridescence of blue and lilac, Grand Duke is the most striking royal blue and Daphne and Prince Charming's teal and sea green tones work perfectly together. Grab yourself a clam bra and you're all set.

Overall, I think this is a great palette (especially for only £7.99) and you could get a LOT of different looks. It's definitely not an everyday palette for me but if you love working strong colours in to your eye looks (whether that's every now and again or every single day), this is a great affordable option which will give you so many options.
