LORD & BERRY Lip Colour Review & Swatches - October 2015
Tuesday, October 20, 2015Welcome back! Today I'm going to be reviewing two of my latest purchases from Lord & Berry, a brand I absolutely love. If you're not familiar with them, they are a Milan based cosmetics company producing really affordable and high quality make up - they're not widely available in UK stores but they are stocked in Selfridges and online.
The first product I purchased is their 20100 Crayon Lipstick in Earth. These crayons have a really good shade selection in both shiny and matte finishes. The shade I selected is from the shiny range which is unusual for me as I almost always prefer a matte lip colour but I was obviously feeling brave when I ordered!
As you can see from the swatch this is a mid-tone nude shade with a coral tint. The formula is extremely creamy and glides on beautifully. This would definitely benefit from wearing with a liner as the consistency is so glossy and it would help you get that precision which isn't easy to achieve with crayon lip colours. I have paired this with my Laura Mercier lip pencil in the shade Pot Pourri; this isn't a perfect match but this lip crayon is so pigmented it still works.

This almost feels like wearing a gloss it is so moisturising but without any of the stickiness. Now, obviously, as this is a glossy finish and such a creamy formula it does need touching up throughout the day and it does transfer really easily so if you were planning to wear this all day you'd definitely need to bring a back up in your handbag (unless you weren't intending to eat, drink or talk, but I generally intend to do all three in abundance). It's not a huge issue for me as I expect to have to touch up most make up throughout the day but it's something to bear in mind.
The second product I chose is the Twistick Sheer Lipstick in the shade Must Have. These could definitely be compared to the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains although I would say that Lord & Berry offer a more contemporary shade selection. These Twisticks are marketed as a 3-in-1 balm, lipstick and gloss so it's a great easy choice for days when you're aiming for a more relaxed (or lazy, in my case) make up look.
This shade is a soft plum with a hint of sheen - actually, this particular shade seems to have reflective properties, beware of people trying to check their own make up in yours! This definitely has a tackiness to it but then again, it does say one of it's 3-in-1 roles is as a lip gloss so not much of a surprise. Much like the 20100 lip crayon, it is incredibly moisturising and comfortable to wear. As it is a sheer lip colour, the shade you achieve will depend entirely on your own natural lip colour - someone with a softer natural lip colour than mine would probably achieve a much stronger plum shade but on me it takes on more of a cool-toned berry colour. This product comes in six shades; two pink/rose tones, two reds and two berry/plum colours, so hopefully you would be able to find a shade which worked for you.

Overall, I really like the formula of both of these products but I think the 20100 Crayon Lipstick range is the one I would recommend - they are a gorgeous texture and have such a wide shade range as well as some matte shades which I am excited to try. The Twisticks are definitely a step above their Revlon counterpart for me, purely on how moisturising they are but my personal preference is the punch of colour you get from the 20100 range.
